Rarity mostly affects how the traits they have are ranked - some (most, all?) traits come in a lower and a higher variety, with the higher obviously also meaning a higher rarity BOFF is needed for them to get that rank trait.ĮDIT: Just checked real quick, and it's a tad more complicated: Some you get as a one-off from certain missions. You get several (multiple choice) from levelling up through the ranks. There are duty officer chains / missions that reward them, I think (never bothered).
Where to get more rare BOFFs? Exchange, mostly. Not sure if unique BOFFs are golden, even? I could go look now but eehh. Hope I didn't forget anything, don't pay much attention these days. White, green, blue, purple, in that order. I also emailed Ubi for a refund or a Steam key instead seeing as people one Steam don't seem to be having this issue. I still can't find a way to change the steam dashboard button (being the thumbstick) to something else.įor those who purchased through steam, has anyone had that problem with the Steam's thumbstick button overriding the game's command? And I couldn't see any profiles listed that were helpful. Basically I tried all different button actions on the thumbstick. So I tried changing the key bindings, although I don't think I knew what I was doing. Meanwhile uplay is wanting to log in so I suspect maybe uplay being open with the program was potentially causing the issue of not registering the Oculus gear it was after. I know there is some response as it registered the trigger before I got to the thumbstick road block. I uninstalled, then reinstalled it and this time I was able to get back to the control tutorial screen. If anyone has any recommendations for me that would be greatly appreciated.

Also tried that free "First Contact" game that game with the Oculus software and that worked fine. My controllers were on, headset was working fine, I don't recall doing anything different. However, this time the game didn't even make it as far as before, it presented me with an error message, "you have a pending hardware issue that is preventing you from entering VR." Unfortunately I didn't find much, so I tried launching the game again to have another go. I exited the game and googled in hope of some solution.

So I was going to come here asking for a solution as there is obviously some controller calibration issue here which I'm unsure how to get around. It seemed everything else was non-responsive unless that command was met.
It was prompting me to hold the left thumb-stick to center the camera and unfortunately this instead brought up the Steam shortcut menu. I had all these running and initially the game launched successfully bringing me to what looked like a control tutorial within the game (it was a galaxy setting with the Oculus controls in front). I read that in order to play Oculus games, I needed the Oculus software, Revive and SteamVR. I did googling to see if people with WMR could play it and fortunately it seemed okay. So I was interested in getting Star Trek Bridge Crew as it was on sale through Uplay. I'm still trying to wrap my head around compatibility issues with other platforms such as Oculus so forgive my ignorance. Got myself a Lenovo WMR headset on sale and so far enjoying what it has to offer.
